TOKYO (Jan. 5, 2005) — Bridgestone Corp. has pledged about $900,000 to support relief efforts following the deadly tsunami Dec. 26 in the Indian Ocean.
The funds have been donated to the Japan Red Cross, which will distribute the funds at its discretion, Bridgestone said. The tire maker's subsidiaries in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and India also will make separate contributions to local efforts.
Group Michelin, Continental A.G. and Trelleborg A.B. also have pledged assistance for the relief efforts.
