HANOVER, Germany (Jan. 3, 2005) — Continental A.G. has pledged $500,000 to help tsunami victims in Asia, and some of the aid may come in fuel tanks and tires.
Continental said it is working with aid organizations to determine whether some of the aid should be in the form of material resources, such as portable 300,000-liter fuel tanks and off-road tires from Continental's Malaysia production.
Continental said it also is encouraging its some 73,000 employees worldwide to contribute to the disaster relief effort.
Group Michelin also pledged $2 million for the relief effort. Most of those funds will be at the disposal of the Thailand government and the remainder will go to other non-government organizations that operate in the affected countries.
