WASHINGTON (Dec. 9, 2004) — John L. Henshaw, administrator of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) since 2001, is stepping down at the end of this month.
A former president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, Mr. Henshaw was praised by rubber manufacturers but criticized by rubber workers for his ardent promotion of voluntary compliance with ergonomics and other workplace safety rules.
There was no immediate word on Mr. Henshaw's successor.
