TOKYO (Jan. 7, 2004) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is transforming its Advan motorsports line into its global performance brand with models to be available next summer for sport-utility vehicles as well as sports and luxury cars.
In launching the brand globally, Yokohama is hoping to take advantage of the recognition that Advan has gained after more than 20 years as the company's primary racing tire family.
Yokohama said Advan represents the company´s “spirit of pursuing high performance and high quality of its products.” It will seek to build the image of Advan by developing a family of performance products, participating in motor sports activities and working with leading car makers and tuners. Already Bentley Motors is using the Advan Sport, size 275/35ZR 20, as original equipment on its Continental GT, which is billed as the world's fastest four-seat coupe.
Globally, Yokohama plans to roll out the Advan Sport next summer in 66 sizes ranging from 205/55ZR17 to 295/25ZR22 and the Advan S/T for high-performance sport-utility vehicles in 30 sizes ranging from 225/55R17 101W to 305/35R24 112W.
