Back in the early days of tire production, making a tire meant putting some real muscle into the process, as shown at left in an early Goodyear factory. Today, highly technical plants aided by computer-operated machinery make tire construction a lot more consistent. In the photo at right, a Goodyear worker screens a new Assurance tire for uniformity.
