MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (Nov. 24, 2004) — West End Tread System, a joint venture of two Canadian retreaders, hosted a grand opening of its retread plant in Mississauga.
West End will exclusively use the Marangoni Ringtread system. The company is a venture of Ring Tread System Inc. (RTS) in Montreal and West End Tire in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Both of those retreaders use the Marangoni process.
The Mississauga plant—the first for the joint venture—opened July 25 and held the grand opening Nov. 4. Herb Boreham, general manager, said the 25,000-sq.-ft. plant should produce about 6,000 units from its opening to the end of 2004. Within five years, the plant's capacity is expected to reach about 40,000 units annually.
