PARIS (Nov. 19, 2004) — Group Michelin is planning to triple production of passenger car tires at its plant in Davydovo, Russia, to 6,000 units/day by year-end 2005, according to a Michelin spokesman.
The project will involve an investment of nearly $22 million, on top of the $85 million already invested in the plant, the spokesman said.
Employment at the plant near Moscow has reached 754 since its startup in late 2003, but the spokeman declined to comment on the anticipated size of the work force after the expansion is complete.
