Goodyear plans cuts in Union City
AKRON-Goodyear planned to cut about 250 jobs at its Union City, Tenn., plant and trim production 10 percent by Nov. 1.
The reductions are in response to cutbacks previously announced by auto makers, a spokeswoman said. ``This will bring our inventory in line with demand,'' she said, adding the company estimates 250 workers will be laid off, but an exact figure has not been finalized. All are expected to be full-time employees.
During the last month, both Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. said they planned to reduce production in the fourth quarter.
