TOKYO (Sept. 29, 2004) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. said its flagship Advan Sport high-performance tire has been selected as the 20-inch option tire for British auto maker Bentley Motors' Continental GT.
The tire maker said the four-seater coupe is the first Bentley model to have Yokohama tires fitted at the factory as part of the new Bentley Mulliner Driving Specification package. The tire size is 275/35ZR20 for both front and rear.
The Continental GT, launched last year, is being called the fastest four-seater coupe in the world with a maximum speed of 198 mph (318km/h) and 4.7-second acceleration from 0-60 mph.
Tokyo-based Yokohama said the Advan Sport has been developed as the top series in its passenger tire family, “with the main goal of achieving superb performance on dry and wet surfaces, comfort and safety at high speeds.” Yokohama and Bentley Motors jointly developed the 20-inch tire specification to optimize the driving performance of the Continental GT. A “B” logo is marked on the side of the tire to show its exclusivity to Bentley.
Advan is Yokohama's global conceptual brand for its flagship tire products and activities—such as motorsports or developments with prestige car makers and tuners—in order to pursue ultimate performance and quality, the company said. It added that the Advan name will appear on its highest performance tires and will be introduced as Yokohama's new symbolic brand worldwide.
