UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2004) – Mitas U.S. Inc., the U.S. distributing arm of Czech Republic's Ceska Gumarenska Spol. (CGS) A.S., is changing its name to CGS Tires U.S. Inc. and moving to Charlotte, N.C.
The changes are related to CGS's acquisition in June of Continental A.G.'s agricultural tire business, according to Dennis Z. Vavrik, president of the U.S. company.
CGS Tires chose Charlotte in order to be closer to Continental Tire North America Inc., which is headquartered in Charlotte, Mr. Vavrik said. The deal with Conti makes Prague-based CGS responsible for Continental-, Semperit-, Barum- and Euzkadi-brand ag tires, the companies said.
The new premises in Charlotte will be offices only, he said. The company may consider its own warehousing later, he added.
CGS Tires will take up residence in Charlotte officially on Oct. 1. The new address is 7400 Carmel Executive Park, Suite 345, Charlotte, N.C. 28226. Telephone and Fax will be (704) 542-3422 and (704) 542-3474, respectively.
