LAS VEGAS (Sept. 10, 2004) — Michelin North America Inc. will be the title sponsor for the PGA Tour golf tournament slated for Oct. 4-10 in Las Vegas.
Michelin has an option to extend the relationship through 2006. With the sponsorship, the event will be named the Michelin Championship at Las Vegas, according to Michelin and the Las Vegas Founders Club. The value of Michelin's sponsorship was not disclosed.
“Michelin is proud to sponsor the Michelin Championship at Las Vegas as part of our support of deserving charities in more than 215 communities throughout the United States,” said John Tully, director of community relations for Michelin.
The Las Vegas Founders Golf Foundation and its charitable foundation, the Las Vegas Founders Gold Foundation, have contributed more than $10 million to local charities from its operation of golf events for the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, University of Las Vegas men's and women's golf teams and the American Junior Golf Association. Charities served include the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas, The First Tee of Southern Nevada, Opportunity Village, Las Vegas History Foundation, Boy Scouts of America and others.
