WASHINGTON D.C. (Aug. 25, 2004) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association is urging its members to participate in the upcoming presidential election through the bipartisan Business Industry Political Action Committee's (BIPAC) Prosperity Project.
The Prosperity Project is an online tool designed to increase public awareness about political issues and voting, the RMA said. It helps register people to vote and provides information on elections and issues. The tool is available on the RMA's Web site, www.rma.org.
“Our goal is to provide the tools by which eligible voters among RMA members and the whole tire and rubber manufacturing community can ensure their participation in the political process,” said Donald Shea, president and CEO of the association. “A failure to participate is giving a free pass to policymakers.”
A poll by BIPAC said nearly 80 percent of people want to hear from their employer about political issues, while about 20 percent do not trust their employer as a source for this information, the RMA said.
