GREENVILLE, S.C. (Aug. 23, 2004) — Michelin North America Inc. has reached a tentative agreement with the United Steelworkers of America (USWA) covering about 3,400 workers at four BFGoodrich plants.
The plants are in Tuscaloosa and Opelika, Ala., Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kitchener, Ontario.
Details of the tentative agreement, reached Aug. 20, will not be released pending ratification by USWA membership at the four facilities, Michelin said.
“We are pleased to have reached agreements that will provide the framework for making our BFGoodrich tire manufacturing plants viable,” said Dave Lowe, Michelin's vice president of labor and employee relations.
