The automotive aftermarket was pleased with the House Education Committee's recent voice-vote passage of a bill to reform vocational and technical education programs.
The bill, H.R. 4496-the Vocational and Technical Education for the Future Act-would reauthorize and strengthen current federal vocational education initiatives, providing a model sequence of vocational education programs and establishing incentive grants for states to enhance such programs.
The bill is on the full House's September calendar, though there is no word on an exact date for floor consideration, according to Bob Redding, Washington representative for the Bedford, Texas-based Automotive Service Association (ASA).
