Understanding challenges
Nice work by Tire Business commercial tire service columnist Peggy J. Fisher on her column in the July 19 issue, ``Helpful hints about wheel stuff you really should know.''
Although we are on the distribution, non-service side of the tire industry, Peggy's articles help us better understand the challenges and concerns of the bolt-on customer.

Fee...fie, foe, fum
New York State has imposed a waste tire management fee of $2.50 for every new tire sold in the state.
This fee-coupled with a tire disposal fee of $2 up to $15-imposes a financial burden on both the tire dealer and the customer. These fees also impose a great price differential between our state and the bordering states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
What can be done about them?
