SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2004) — CarParts Technologies Inc., a software system provider for the automotive aftermarket, was acquired by Auto Data Network Inc., the companies announced.
Founded in 1997, CarParts supplies software and eCommerce systems to more than 3,000 locations, including companies such as Monro Muffler & Brake and Fountain Tire.
“As part of our strategy to become a global market leader in automotive software solutions, entry into the U.S. market has been high on our agenda,” said Chris Glover, chairman of Auto Data, which is based in Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom.
Shortly after announcing the acquisition, Auto Data also said it has secured a contract with Big O Tires Inc., a subsidiary of TBC Corp., for CarParts' VAST Point-of-Sale, VAST Multi-Store and OpenWebs eCommerce software. Auto Data said deployment into Big O's 560 retail stores will begin immediately.
CarParts CEO David McCann said in a statement that the deal folds his company's product portfolio into Auto Data's broader line. “We have found that our larger, market-leading customers want comprehensive solution offerings from a single, strong supplier,” he said.
