EPE, The Netherlands (Aug. 2, 2004)—Dutch machinery maker VMI Epe Holland B.V. has bought the extrusion division of Germany's A-Z Formen und Maschinen GmbH, extending its product range.
Production of A-Z's extruders for tire production and retreading will continue as a new division, VMI-AZ Extrusion GmbH, from the existing facilities in Runding, Germany. Two sales and service units, in Munich, Germany and Akron, Ohio, will continue their operations under the new unit.
The Dutch company, which has production units in Epe, the U.S. and China, has appointed Florian Fischer as general manager of its new extrusion business.
This transaction enhances VMI's product range with A-Z extruders for the tire industry—for making new tires as well as for retreading—and for the technical rubber industry, the firm said in a press statement.
VMI said its goal is “to further strengthen its market position as the leading supplier to the rubber and tire industries by autonomous growth as well as by further acquisitions.”
VMI-AZ Extrusion has set up a Web site, www.vmi-az.com, for more information.
Munich-based A-Z Formen will concentrate on its primary business, the production of molds and mold-closing systems for the tire industry and special machinery for making tire molds and components for aerospace.
A-Z Formen's North American unit, A-Z Americas L.L.C., is based in Akron.
