AKRON (July 16, 2004) — Bridgestone/Firestone employees in Akron raised $500 for a local charity by buying raffle tickets to win lunch with Andrew Firestone.
The money was donated to the Coming Together Project, a group of about 200 organizations that promotes racial harmony and cultural awareness.
While visiting Akron, Mr. Firestone also was scheduled to visit the tire maker's Columbiana, Ohio, test center with farmers and dealers from across the U.S. The center sits on 350 acres near the family farm of Harvey Firestone, Andrew Firestone's great-grandfather and the founder of Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. Mr. Firestone also planned to sign autographs in Akron.
