BOWIE, Md. (June 29, 2004) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) formally launched its Global Council at the Riefen 2004 tire trade show this month in Germany.
The council, formed in February, solicited membership and provided information about TIA during the show June 8-11 in Essen. More than 15,000 attendees from 80 countries attended, according to TIA.
“Many visitors to the TIA booth purchased international memberships and were excited about the Web and CD-based Automotive Tire Service technician training,” said Paul Hyatt, TIA secretary and director. “We're looking forward to expanding our presence in the global marketplace where we currently have members from over 65 countries.”
Mr. Hyatt, president of Superior Tire Corp. in Toronto, will become the first TIA international president in November 2006.
