NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 28, 2004) — Bridgestone Motorsport was named the Motorsports Company of the Year by the Boy Scouts of America's Cascade Pacific Council, the tire maker said.
The breakfast, held during festivities surrounding the Grand Prix of Portland, Ore., is the council's second largest fundraiser, culling more than $30,000 each year, BFS said. The funds help inner-city and at-risk youth participate in the scouting program.
BFS said the council recognized its motorsports unit's standing in the community as well as its longtime support of the Boy Scouts organization. “It's a great honor for us to be recognized by the Boy Scouts, an organization that makes such a difference in the lives of so many in this community and across the country,” said Al Speyer, executive director of Bridgestone Motorsport.
