PHILADELPHIA (May 26, 2004) — The Independent Tire Dealers Group (ITDG) has signed a supply agreement with Pep Boys—Manny, Moe & Jack that will provide the dealer group's some 260 locations with aftermarket hard parts, shop equipment and tires.
ITDG serves about 90 dealer members in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico and Hawaii.
“By forming this strategic alliance with a leading automotive industry supplier such as Pep Boys, we are able to fulfill our mission of maximizing the competitive status of our independent tire dealer members,” said Michael Cox, president of ITDG.
Just this month Philadelphia-based Pep Boys started stocking name brands Continental, General, Goodyear, Michelin and Hankook nationwide in addition to its Futura and Cornell private labels. Continental and General are the main brands, while Goodyear and Michelin will be available in various markets.
“(The deal with ITDG) gives us the opportunity to increase sales and provide the Independent Tire Dealers Group with an alternate source for prompt, reliable deliveries of our top-quality hard parts and support them with our wide selection of tires,” said Craig Henning, Pep Boys' vice president of commercial sales.
