PHILADELPHIA (May 13, 2004) — Pep Boys—Manny, Moe & Jack will launch a mix of name-brand tires on May 16 in its stores nationwide, company executives said.
During a conference call discussing its first quarter results, CEO Larry Stevenson said stores will carry primarily Continental and General brands. Pep Boys stores also will carry Hankook, Michelin and Goodyear brands in select markets where they're likely to sell well, he added.
He said the name brands sold well in test markets.
“More importantly, we also sold more of our own Futura tires,” he said.
Pep Boys operates 595 stores in 36 states and Puerto Rico.
