GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 28, 2004) — Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich brand is introducing a new radial drag racing slick tire, the g-Force T/A Drag Radial Slick.
The tire — which Michelin claims is the first drag radial slick to be used in sport compact drag racing competitions —will debut May 1 at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact event in New Jersey. The tire brand teamed up with Skunk2 Racing to develop the tire, with a goal of pursuing an NHRA series championship. The slick is designed to outperform traditional bias-ply slicks.
Skunk2 Racing will use the tire through the remainder of the 2004 season. Michelin said plans call for it to work with additional teams in future seasons.
BFGoodrich also offers 23 sizes of street-legal drag radials.
