ABERDEEN, Ohio (April 21, 2004) — Mark Bowie, owner of Bowie Tire Co. for 25 years, died April 6 following a struggle with cancer. He was 46.
Mr. Bowie, who operated the store with his wife Margie, had bought the Aberdeen business from his father, Gene Bowie, who is a charter member of the Ohio Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association.
Margie Bowie and a nephew plan to continue running the business, according to the Ohio association.
According to his obituary, Mark Bowie was an accomplished scuba rescue and recovery diver and also was an active volunteer at the Southern Ohio Correction Facility in Lucasville, Ohio, where he worked with the Narcotics Anonymous program. He was named volunteer of the year in 1997.
Mr. Bowie is survived by his wife; daughters Cellina Thompson and Rajeana Bowie; his father; his mother Hilda Bowie; brother Tim Bowie; sister Lynn Bowie; and other relatives.
