CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 13, 2004) — Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) will raise prices on Continental, General, Semperit and private brand passenger, light truck, medium truck and OTR tires, effective June 1.
The increases will vary according to market line and/or size. Passenger and light truck tire prices will rise from 3 to 5 percent, with truck and OTR tire prices rising from 2 to 5 percent.
The company said it is raising prices to offset escalating raw material prices. This is CTNA's second price increase on passenger and light truck tires this year and third since July 2003. Prices on Continental, General and private brand passenger and light truck tires rose by 3 to 6 percent on Feb. 1. Conti boosted prices 5 percent on Continental and General brands last July.
The tire maker also raised prices on its Continental, General, Semperit and private brand medium and heavy radial truck and off-the-road tires by 3 to 5 percent last Dec. 1.
Detailed pricing information will be made available to dealers as soon as it is available, a Continental spokeswoman said.
