LAPEER, Mich. (April 7, 2004) — Durakon Industries is recalling about 8,000 over-rail bedliners on 1999 to 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Lapeer-based company said it is recalling the bedliners to change the system that fastens the bedliner to the bed of the truck. Durakon said it is not aware of any reported cases of injury or property damage as a result of the fasteners not performing. The company said the bedliners could potentially dislodge from the vehicle.
Durakon also advises motorists who bought either AllStar or Patriot overrail bedliners since Aug. 1, 2003, that was installed on the affected vehicles to bring them to a Durakon dealer for inspection.
Durakon said a new fastening system will be used going forward.
