WASHINGTON (March 30, 2004) — ASTM, formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials, presented an award of appreciation to Michael Blumenthal, senior technical director of the Rubber Manufacturers Association.
ASTM, one of the world's largest voluntary standards development organizations, honored Mr. Blumenthal for his efforts to create standards for scrap tire uses and for his service and participation in ASTM's Committee on Recycling and Reuse, which Mr. Blumenthal co-chairs.
Mr. Blumenthal authored two ASTM standards: D6270-04, Scrap Tires used in Civil Engineering Applications, and D6700-01 for scrap tires used as tire-derived fuel.
