LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 30, 2004) — Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) contributed $25,000 to help support Ol' Blue USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to large vehicle safety, during the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.
Ol' Blue is a 1951 truck that hauls a 53-foot rolling billboard trailer with sponsor and law enforcement logos. The traffic safety awareness program stops at schools nationwide to educate students about the importance of large vehicle safety.
The organization also conducts simulated truck inspections at trade shows and truck stops, Michelin North America Inc. said. The group also conducts various programs at community events and public schools.
“Safety is an important priority at Michelin,” said Marc Laferriere, vice president of marketing for MATT. “That's why we have supported Ol' Blue USA since the program began in 1986, and we are proud to be a founding sponsor.”
