BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (March 12, 2004) — BFS Retail & Commercial Operations L.L.C. (BFRC) will hold 28 Car Care Academy workshops this year, double the number from last year, with the first one set for March 30 in time for National Car Care Month in April.
The free, interactive seminars will be held at Firestone Tire & Service Centers and Tires Plus stores across the U.S. and will teach consumers what they can do on a monthly basis to help keep their cars running in better condition.
BFRC has been hosting the academies for about 30 years, the Bridgestone/Firestone company said. This year's schedule doubles the number of workshops from last year. The campaign kicks off March 30 in Acworth, Ga. The academy comprises 28 stops, finishing Oct. 23 in Bakersfield, Calif.
In addition to announcing the expanded schedule, BFRC said Trisha Hessinger is its new spokeswoman for the Car Care Academies.
Ms. Hessinger “has been teaching people the fundamentals of caring for their vehicle for almost 25 years,” said Victoria Condell, director of public relations for BFRC. “She has hosted numerous car care shows on television, and her expertise is unmatched. We are thrilled to have her as a part of the Firestone team.”
Ms. Hessinger has been a keynote and guest speaker for major auto manufacturers and a contributing writer for various magazines and newspapers on automotive subjects. She also has competed in open wheel and showroom stock car races, is a celebrity race trainer and driving instructor, and is an official pace car driver for the CART ChampCar open-wheel racing series.
