NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 5, 2004) — A vehicle outfitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE750 tires won its first D1 Grand Prix victory last month during Round 1 of the drifting race season, the Nashville-based tire maker said.
Driver Yasuyuki Kazama won the 2004 D1 Grand Prix USA professional drift event in a 414-horsepower Nissan Silvia, BFS said. This is the second season that BFS has sponsored Mr. Kazama for the event.
Drifting is a skilled motorsport in which drivers control a car using precise acceleration, steering and braking while it slides from side to side at high speeds on a closed, marked course.
Round 2 of the 2004 season will be May 4-5 in Japan.
