Kumho Tires USA took to the high-seas in February for a Caribbean cruise with some of its dealers. The journey on the Radisson Seven Seas Navigator was only the second dealer trip ever conducted by the U.S. unit of South Korea's Kumho Tire Co.
``We elected to do this three years ago to get to know our customers better,'' said David Hudrlik, Kumho's vice president of sales.
During the week-long event, dealers learned about Kumho's sales and marketing plans for 2004 as well as several new tires that will be introduced this year. And they had ample time to spend with one another and to get to know their Kumho hosts.
As for next year, Kumho plans to do it again, with a dealer trip scheduled for early January 2004 at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun resort in Mexico. That event will bring even more Kumho employees and dealers together.
The tire company plans to invite most of its customers to the event as well as all of its employees who interact with customers.
``In the industry so much centers around relationships and customers, and anything you can do to make these relationships stronger is beneficial to both parties,'' Mr. Hudrlik said.
