SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Feb. 27, 2004) — STRATCO Inc., which describes itself as a leader in petroleum-based reaction technology, has purchased the assets of rubberized asphalt manufacturer BlendTec L.L.C. for an undisclosed amount.
STRATCO became interested in asphalt rubber technology 12 years ago, when it started performing research and development on crumb rubber-asphalt blends for a Netherlands firm, said Cecelia Mancero, STRATCO international sales director. Since then, the company has developed a mobile asphalt blender—an outgrowth of its reactor technology for the production of alkylate and lubricating grease—that dovetails with the BlendTec operation, she said.
BlendTec will remain in its current headquarters in Phoenix, according to Ms. Mancero.
