WASHINGTON (Jan. 20, 2004) — The Bush administration's plan for promoting U.S. manufacturing contains “several positive steps,” according to a spokesman for the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA).
In particular, the RMA cited the administration's plan to review regulatory and tax policies with an eye toward simplifying them, as well as its support for enactment of class-action lawsuit reform.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans released the administration's manufacturing report during a visit last week to Cleveland. President Bush was expected to mention the plan in his State of the Union address tonight.
