Goodyear has extended its agreement with Penske Truck Leasing to be the primary supplier of tires in North America until at least 2008, the Akron-based tire maker said.
Goodyear currently supplies Reading, Pa.-based Penske with a variety of truck tires, including
replacement and retreaded tires. Penske operates about 200,000 vehicles in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe.
Penske also has named the tire maker a supplier of the year, Goodyear said.
``Goodyear has helped us reduce our overall tire costs, and we have been extremely satisfied with the service provided,'' Marc Althen, vice president of administration and facilities for Penske, said in a statement.
``We look forward to continuing our relationship with this highly valued supplier.''
The firm is a joint venture of Penske Corp. and General Electric.
