SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 12, 2003) — Bridgestone/Firestone has settled for $3.2 million a lawsuit before a San Antonio court involving a vehicle rollover in Mexico.
The March 2002 accident occurred in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. It involved an alleged tread separation of a Firestone Daytona tire on a 1994 Chevy Blazer which injured a five-year-old boy and killed his parents and uncle.
A BFS spokesman said the Nashville, Tenn.-based tire maker settled the case rather than face a long trial. "The money's not going to undo what happened in this tragedy, but perhaps the family can find some closure," he said.
