PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (Dec. 8, 2003) — The Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) is experiencing an influx of new members as the result of some encouragement and an incentive from Bandag Inc.
Muscatine, Iowa-based Bandag, the purveyor of the Bandag precure retreading process, has offered to pay one-third of a franchisee's membership cost in TRIB, according to Harvey Brodsky, managing director of TRIB.
"We are seeing the largest increase in new members in many years, thanks to
Bandag´s promotion,” Mr. Brodsky said. Desiring to see more active support and involvement by the Bandag Strategic Alliance, Andrew Sisler, Bandag´s vice president, North American franchise sales and support, sent a letter to the dealer network urging them to support TRIB, Mr. Brodsky said.
Neither TRIB nor Bandag disclosed the number of Bandag franchisees who had become TRIB members this year. Bandag has approximately 345 franchisees in the U.S., according to company documents.
TRIB lists 720 member locations on its Web site, although the bulk of the addresses listed are either Goodyear Wingfoot, Bandag TDS, Tire Centers L.L.C. (TCI) or Bridgestone/Firestone GCR locations.
