LAS VEGAS (Nov. 5, 2003)—Pirelli Tire North America Inc. has introduced a 25-inch version of its Scorpion Zero radial to equip the Hummer H2 sport-utility vehicle.
The Scorpion Zero radial, size 315/40VR25 XL (120) M+S, is fitted to a Giovanna Bragg alloy wheel and was designed specifically for the Hummer H2 tuner market, Pirelli said.
The tire's XL extra load designation means it has a load index designed to support the weight of not only the $50,000, 6,400-pound H2 but also other light trucks and sport-utility vehicles, Pirelli said. Standard fitment for the H2 is 315/70R17, making the 25-inch tire a plus-5 fitment.
The new Scorpion Zero features Pirelli's “Double Z” tread design, which provides maximum traction along with total wet traction capabilities, according to Pirelli.
Pirelli debuted the 25-inch Scorpion Zero at the Specialty Equipment Market Association/International Tire Expo in Las Vegas, where it also announced the availability of the Scorpion Zero and Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico SUV tires in a range of 20-, 22-, 23- and 24-inch sizes.
The new tires are built at Pirelli's Rome, Ga., plant using the company's Modular Integrated Robotized System tire-building modules.
