BOWIE, Md.-The Tire Industry Association has hired Paul Fiore as director of business development to grow relationships between the trade association and the industry's largest independent dealers and buying groups.
Following the Specialty Equipment Market Association/International Tire Expo show Nov. 4-7 in Las Vegas, Mr. Fiore will begin contacting the 100 largest tire dealerships and buying groups to develop long-term membership and training partnerships, TIA said.
With these companies as members, TIA hopes to gain year-to-year stability as well as resources for training and education.
Mr. Fiore has worked in the automotive market for 25 years, Bowie-based TIA said. He owned a repair facility for many years and also served on various industry councils and committees.
He was president of the Washington, Maryland, Delaware Service Station and Automotive Trade Association (WMDA). He also has been active in government affairs on a federal and local level and has more than 10 years of association experience, TIA said.
``We recognize that consolidation is changing the industry so rapidly that most of the remaining mom-and-pop tire dealerships belong to a buying group,'' said Tom Raben, president of TIA. ``Between the large independent regional dealers, the na-tionwide chains and the buying groups, we could more than triple our current membership. Bringing Paul aboard gives us the opportunity to begin a dialogue with these companies so that we can move forward with a more aggressive member benefit package.''
