FINDLAY, Ohio (Oct. 22, 2003) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will sponsor for one year the Ohio State National Championship Display at the Buckeye Hall of Fame CafÃ&Copy; in Columbus, Ohio.
The tire maker also announced a new promotion featuring Omaha-brand steaks.
The cafÃ&Copy; honors Ohio State University's athletic tradition as well as the 2002 championship trophy. The Findlay-based tire maker said its sponsorship includes advertising, television and radio spots, media and promotional events and special event packages.
“The sponsorship provides an excellent opportunity to carry our message to an extensive group of students, alumni and fans in a way that fits with our collegiate program initiative,” said Pat Brown, vice president of advertising and communications for Cooper.
Cooper dealer Speck Sales in Bowling Green, Ohio, recently displayed the championship trophy in its store to promote sales, the tire maker said. Customers got their picture taken with the trophy.
Cooper also is the official tire of the Southeastern, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Mountain West and Pacific-10 college football conferences. The company also sponsors a variety of other sports.
In the steak promotion, Cooper will give customers who buy four Cooper Zeon 2XS or XST tires from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 an $80 gift certificate for Omaha Steaks. The Omaha, Neb.-based company markets and distributes nationwide a variety of steaks and operates stores in 15 states.
