YONKERS, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2003) — Goodyear and Falken tires topped Consumer Reports' annual rankings of ultra-high performance and all-season performance tires.
The Falken Ziex ZE 512 ranked No. 1 on the list of 18 top H-speed rated, all-season performance tires. The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 hit the top of the list of 13 Z-rated, ultra-high performance summer tires. The Bridgestone Turanza LS-H came in second on the magazine's all-season list, and the Toyo Proxes T1-S ranked second in the ultra-high performance list.
If fuel mileage is a priority in all-season performers, the magazine recommended the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus. In the ultra-high performance category, Consumer Reports suggested the Continental ContiSportContact 2 for a smooth and quiet ride.
The magazine, published by Yonkers-based Consumers Union, ranked the tires' overall score based on braking, handling and hydroplaning. The rankings appear in the magazine's November issue.
