Women's board seeking sponsors
BETHESDA, Md.-The Car Care Council Women's Board is offering exclusive sponsorship opportunities for the 2003 Women's Board reception, to be held Nov. 4 at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.
During the reception, the Women's Automotive Communications Awards will be presented to companies and agencies that have integrated their outstanding advertising, marketing and PR efforts with the ``Be Car Care Aware'' campaign and have communicated their messages to women.
The board is offering two tax-deductible sponsorships: diamond ($1,250) and ruby ($750).
It also will award a $1,000 scholarship to a female enrolled in her second year at a technical school who is planning to enter the automotive field upon graduation. The scholarship will be presented at the Nov. 4 reception.
Jiffy Lube International Inc. has agreed to fund the scholarship program at $1,000 per year for three years.
MATDA raises scholarship funds
TOPEKA, Kan.-The Mid-America Tire Dealers Association raised more than $4,000 for its scholarship fund during its Aug. 31 golf tournament at Rolling Meadows Golf Club in Milford, Kan.
The association awards scholarships to students within the automotive industry. The success of the August golf tournament means MATDA will award at least eight $500 scholarships at its 2004 convention in Salina, Kan., the group said.
The first place team in the tournament was Shamrock Tire Inc. from Wichita, Kan. Don's Tire and Supply in Abilene, Kan., placed second, while Henry Brothers Implement Inc. from Hiawatha, Kan., Weber Tire Co. in Herington, Kan., and Becker Tire & Treading Inc. from McPherson, Kan., all placed third.
