FONTANA, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2003) — Drivers on Kumho tires claimed 16 championships at the Tire Rack Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Solo National Championships Sept. 6-12 in Topeka, Kan. It was the tire maker's best showing since it entered the SCCA circuit in 1993.
“We enjoyed a very successful year of SCCA racing,” said Rudy Consolacion, Kumho's motorsports manager. “We had our best year ever at the Solo II and ProSolo championships, and we came within seconds of winning two additional championships at the Runoffs. We expect to do even better next year.”
At the Valvoline Runoffs Sept. 15-21, Kumho racers claimed one championship, two runner-up positions and three top-five finalists, the Fontana-based tire maker said.
