NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2003) — Bridgestone/Firestone has signed a two-year agreement to be the presenting sponsor of the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, an annual post-season collegiate football bowl game.
This year's game will be at 11 a.m. CST Dec. 31 in Nashville. It will be broadcast nationally through ESPN and Nevada Sports Radio Network. In its sixth year, the bowl pits teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference (SEC).
“It's a perfect fit for our company and the Bridgestone brand,” said John Gamauf, president, consumer tire replacement sales for the Nashville-based tire maker. “As a presenting sponsor, we have the opportunity to work with one of our long-time partners, Gaylord, and we will be showcasing our home city, our company and our high-tech products before one of the most passionate audiences in the world, college football fans.”
Nashville-based Gaylord Entertainment owns and operates Gaylord Hotels.
An Associated Press report said the bowl game has failed to fill the 67,000-seat Coliseum in its previous five games and went two years without a sponsor before Gaylord signed a three-year deal for $1.6 million in 2001.
