Ohio dealers tap Coley president
COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association elected D.D. Coley of Consumer Tire Inc. in Mentor, Ohio, president during its June convention in Huron, Ohio.
The group's officers are Larry Kane of Terry's Tire Town in Alliance, first vice president; Nick Riggs of Watt's Industrial Tires in Valley City, second vice president; and George Birsic of Lakewood Firestone in Lakewood, treasurer.
The association also elected its board of directors. They are: Mike Brickman of Suburban Car & Repair in Cleveland; Mark Krebs of World Tire in Toledo; Ted Smetzer of Smetz's Tire Center in Ashland; Mike Broadwater of Tyres International in Columbus; Randy Jones of Tire Man Auto Center in Maumee; Tony Payne of Best-One Tire Center in Beckley, W.Va.; Tim Brennan of Flynn's Tire and Automotive Centers in Hermitage, Pa.; John Sparks of Sparks Commercial Tire Inc. in Findlay; and Tony Vizyak of Great Lake Tires Inc. in Sandusky.
N.E. group gets new exec director
YARMOUTH, Maine-Dick Cole has replaced John Whiting-Grant as executive director of the New England Tire and Service Association (NETSA).
Mr. Whiting-Grant left the group to pursue other interests. Mr. Cole, former owner of Dick Cole Tire Center in Portland, Maine, and a past president of the association, became NETSA's chief administrator Aug. 1.

TIA official will sing for Pa. group
GREENSBURG, Pa.-The Tire Dealers Association of Western Pennsylvania will hold its 46th annual Rubber Ball Oct. 25 at the Churchill Valley Country Club in Pittsburgh.
The event will feature the Ken Smith Band, a country music act from Virginia that includes vocalist Becky MacDicken, the Tire Industry Association's director of government affairs.

Ark. dealers plan annual golf outing
HORSESHOE BEND, Ark.-The Arkansas Independent Tire Dealers Association will have its third annual golf outing to raise scholarship funds Sept. 27 at the DeGray Lake State Park Lodge & Convention Center in Bismarck, Ark.
The association is looking for the following sponsors: a $10,000 hole-in-one sponsor, beverage cart sponsor, pro-shop prizes and other prizes, and a scholarship fund hole sponsor.

Lift association elects officers
INDIALANTIC, Fla.-The Automotive Lift Institute elected Rick Wells of Mohawk Resources to serve as chairman of its board of directors.
Chic Fox was appointed president and re-elected to treasurer. Anne White-Fox serves as secretary while Pete Liebetreu of Hunter Engineering was elected to fill a board vacancy.
Other board members are: Chris Edwards of Western Manufacturing Co.; Gary Kennon of Rotary Lift; Jerry Lentz of Challenger Lifts; Dean Low of Forward Manufacturing Co.; and Harold Yeo of Wheeltronic Ltd.
ASA sets 2004 meeting date
BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Assocation (ASA) will hold its 2004 annual meeting April 15-17 in San Antonio.
The annual gathering of ASA members will return to a traditional business meeting, marking a change from its previous convention format, said ASA President Ron Pyle. Highlighting the 2004 agenda will be open meetings of the ASA affiliate assembly and board of directors.
Recently, ASA's meeting had been part of a larger annual convention, which included events such as the Automotive Management Institute graduation and ASA awards banquet. Those events will continue in different venues, such as the Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) event and at NACE, the International Autobody Congress and Exposition, Mr. Pyle said.
