Furnace
Clean Burn Inc. has launched a used-oil-fired furnace designed to provide heat while recycling used motor oils in line with government environmental guidelines.
Model CB-1500 has a 150,000 BTU/hour output and is the smallest of Clean Burn's six used-oil furnaces.
The company claimed the furnace delivers greater heat output and needs less frequent maintenance compared with alternative technologies.
The unit also features an auto-restart for ignition in severely cold weather, Clean Burn said.
The furnace is less than 30 inches high, and it can be installed in areas with little overhead clearance. It also can be hung from the ceiling or mounted on a stand.

It also is compatible with conventional and new extended life automotive coolants including those for General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler A.G. vehicles.

It meets all road-legal requirements for height, width, length and weight, the company said.
The shredder uses a single, 9-inch solid auto-reversing shaft and five, double-tipped 4-inch staggered, replaceable bi-directional cutters. Tire size tester
AutoWare Technologies L.L.C. recently expanded the use of its Tire MountMate, so the tool can now accommodate tires up to 28 inches in size.
Previously the tool could handle only 14- to 20-inch size tires, the company said.
The Tire MountMate simulates an actual wheel by clamping onto the insides of tires. The unit can then be bolted to the vehicle to allow technicians to determine the correct custom wheel size needed without the possibility of damaging expensive rims while looking for the right size, the company said.
The tool gives the dimensions to fit the largest tire and wheel on most vehicles. AutoWare is now shipping the tool with with extensions to handle the larger size tires.
The unit retails for $495 plus shipping; an optional eight-lug faceplate costs $70.

Tire caddy
Safe Shop Tools Inc. has improved the tilting brackets on its Clever Lever Tire and Wheel Caddie.
The tool gives truck technicians a 10-to-1 lifting advantage, allowing them to remove or install any tire up to 285 pounds, the company claimed.
It also allows a tire to sit and rotate on a set of rollers mounted on tilting brackets.
The brackets are now designed to fit on either leg of the tool. Previously, the tool required both left and right-side brackets. The change was made to simplify ordering and inventory control, the company said.
The company also increased the thickness of the brackets, from 1/16-inch to 1/8-inch.
The heavier universal bracket is available on both models of the Clever Lever: the HD-26, which handles tires with diameters 36 to 48 inches and the MD-22, built for tires with diameters from 24 to 36 inches.

Wheels
Maxxis International has introduced MaxLite aluminum ATV wheels that the company claimed are 16 percent lighter than competing aluminum wheels.

Maxxis said the polished finish sheds mud.
The wheel is constructed from rolled aluminum with a cast aluminum center. The company said this method produces a strong yet still lightweight wheel.
Both styles also include a closed, rolled edge designed to act as a light reinforcement ring.
The edge also can eliminate mud accumulation, which can lead to wheel imbalance, Maxxis said.

CrossLink Inc. has developed a tire pressure monitoring system designed for commercial fleets.
The TireBoss system includes a small tag mounted inside each tire that uses a wireless link to send fleet operators the temperature-adjusted pressure of each tire.
The product also draws attention to tire heating problems resulting from underinflation, dragging brakes or wheel misalignment, the company claimed.
Readers, including hand-held, on-vehicle and gate-portal versions, can receive information from 100 feet or more away. The gate-portal reader also can capture real-time information from each tire as the vehicle passes a maintenance checkpoint, the company said.
