Bridgestone adding capacity in Asia
TOKYO-Bridgestone Corp. will invest $76 million over three years to expand production capacity for radial truck and bus tires at three plants in Japan and one in Thailand to support growing demand.
In Japan, Bridgestone said it will spend $17 million at its Amagi, Tochigi and Tokyo plants through year-end 2004 to expand production capacity by 1,300 tires a day,
Bridgestone also will boost the capacity of its plant under construction in Chonburi, Thailand, to 5,000 tires a day, by year-end 2006. The plant is scheduled for start-up in the second half of 2004 with an initial production capacity of 2,500 tires a day.
Conti tires OE on luxury Maybach
HANOVER, Germany-DaimlerChrylser A.G. has selected Continental A.G. to supply tires to two new luxury/performance cars, the ultra-luxury Maybach limousine and the Chrysler Crossfire high-performance coupe.
The Maybach also features the tire maker's ContiSupportRing (CSR) run-flat system.
Conti is supplying both summer and winter tire fitments for the Maybach: ContiPremiumContact, size 275/50R19 112W XL, for summer service and ContiWinterContact TS 790, 275/50R19 112H XL, as winter tire. The sizes are exclusive fitments for the Maybach.
For the Crossfire, Continental will supply all-season ContiTouringContact CW95 tires-size 225/40ZR18 in the front and 255/35ZR19 in the rear-for the vehicle.
Chrysler also fits Michelin Pilot Sport tires in the same dimensions on the vehicle.
