150 MILE HOUSE, British Columbia (Sept. 8, 2003)—Big B Tire Ltd. is joining Fountain Tire's network as an associated dealer in a bid for more business, Big B's owner said.
Bill DeWitt said his single-outlet dealership will add Fountain Tire's signage and its major brands, including Goodyear and Dunlop, but Big B Tire will remain an autonomous business. The 150 Mile House-based dealership also sells Kumho and Cooper brands. The agreement is effective Sept. 8.
Fountain Tire said it will close its store in nearby Williams Lake, British Columbia, as Big B Tire can offer a broader range of diagnostics and mechanical services.
“The end result should be a combination of Fountain Tire quality products and programs and the customer service Big B is known for,” said Jason Herle, director of operations for Fountain Tire.
Big B Tire currently is undergoing renovations to add work bays to increase service capacity. The renovations are expected to be complete in the coming weeks, and the store will operate during the remodeling.
Mr. DeWitt said he had several reasons for pursuing the relationship, including the addition of the brands and potential for new customers. He said he also hoped to offer his store's customers more service options when they travel throughout Canada.
Edmonton, Alberta-based Fountain Tire operates 146 outlets in Canada.
“Although we have joined a large tire chain, the people haven't changed,” Mr. DeWitt said in a statement. “We still provide the same great service that we have been providing for the last 30 years. Now we will have additional services for our customers because we have joined Fountain Tire.”
