GREENVILLE, S.C. (Aug. 26, 2003)—Michelin North America Inc. named a longtime government affairs executive as the tire maker's new director of federal government affairs.
Steve Evered will coordinate federal government affairs in the U.S. and continue development of the company's government relations efforts in Canada and Mexico. He joins Roy Chamlee, director of state and local government affairs, in the corporate affairs department.
Mr. Evered most recently was director, legislative and regulatory affairs for Morris Township, N.J.-based Honeywell. In that post, he served as the company's Capitol Hill liaison on all energy and homeland security issues as well as working on behalf of Honeywell businesses. Mr. Evered has spent about 25 years in government affairs, including successfully managing the re-election campaign of former Rep. Les AuCoin, D-Oregon.
“Working closely with government officials and participating fully in the public policy process has always been a priority with Michelin,” said Michael Fanning, vice president of corporate affairs for the Greenville-based tire maker. “Steve's addition to our government affairs team and his experience on Capitol Hill will further strengthen those efforts.”
