AKRON (Aug. 22, 2003)—Goodyear has named Jack Winterton vice president of replacement sales for its North American Tire unit.
Mr. Winterton, previously director of field sales for consumer tires, will assume overall responsibility for consumer replacement tire sales through all channels of distribution, according to North American Tire President Jon Rich.
“Jack has done a great job in rebuilding the relationships and the credibility with our critical dealer channel,” Mr. Rich said. “This new opportunity extends his responsibility to the synergistic coordination of our overall consumer replacement sales efforts to the benefit of the business.”
Mr. Winterton, 50, will oversee corporate accounts as well as the wholesale tire centers, Mr. Rich said. Tom Gravalos, director of corporate accounts, will report through Mr. Winterton's new organization. Harold Strakusak, director of the wholesale tire centers, will report to Eric Brown, general manager of wholesale distribution.
Beginning his career in 1973 as a store manager trainee for Ameron Automotive Centers, a division of Kelly-Springfield, Mr. Winterton progressed through the Kelly organization in a variety of roles and businesses. He was promoted to general manager of Kelly brands in July 1995. He then was named general manager of the corporate accounts program in Akron in January 1998, general marketing manager of Kelly consumer tires in May 1999 and was promoted to director of field sales for consumer tires in July 2002. He is a business graduate of Canton College in Canton, N.Y.
