AKRON (Aug. 19, 2003) — Myers Industries Inc. announced three promotions in executive positions, including Stephen E. Myers adding chairman to his CEO post and ending his stint as president.
The chairman position had been vacant and was last held by Louis S. Myers from 1980 to 1993. Stephen Myers joined Akron-based Myers Industries in 1967 and was elected to the board of directors in 1971. He was named president and CEO in 1984.
John Orr, already chief operating officer, will take over the president position in addition to his current post. Mr. Orr joined the company in 2000 and was named COO in February.
Milton Wiskind was named vice chairman and secretary. Previously senior vice president and secretary, Mr. Wiskind joined the company in 1956 as a partner in the establishment of Myers Tire Supply, Pittsburgh. He was elected to the board of directors and appointed secretary in 1971.
Myers manufacturers polymer products for various markets and also distributes tools, equipment and supplies for the tire, wheel and undervehicle service industry in the U.S.
